With a keen eye on the future of broadcasting, TAS is committed to providing Malaysian viewers with interactive television services. The interactive television concept is about merging broadcast television with the web. The goal is to create a new communication channel that would enable one to combine the "talk-back" ability of the internet with the one-way "multi-casting" power of the television. TAS will use the strengths of each medium to overcome the weaknesses of the other. The service will be free to users supported by a mix of advertising and commerce revenue vide the use of SMS service available today. Parties involved in the interactive television are the Internet Service Providers (ISP), telecommunication companies (Telcos) and broadcasting stations.
TV Station Management The TAS Group of companies was chosen to manage the City Television Sdn. Bhd. which operated the MetroVision television station. The MetroVision channel was Malaysia’s fourth free to air television station and the first regional TV broadcaster to air exclusive to viewers in the Klang Valley. Since taking over the management in 1996, TAS has gained valuable experience and capabilities in operating a TV station catering to an urban audience. It has successfully transformed MetroVision into a lean and efficient broadcaster with a keen eye for niche programming to an urban audience. A corporate restructuring for MetroVision and is currently underway, working closely with a media group to re-launch MetroVision as Channel 8. | ||||||||
